PLL Week 4 Baby!

A lot happened in Week 3. The Redwoods got their first win, the Whips took down the almighty Atlas and the Waterdogs and Chaos are still winless. The NLL is finally over and that means all the top lacrosse players should be returning to their respective teams. Lets dive into the Week 4 matchups!

Woods vs Whips

Through the first 3 years of the PLL, The Woods vs the Whips has been the biggest rivalry i can think of. Unfortunately for the Woods, they get to face the Whipsnakes in Baltimore. The Whipsnakes have a roster filled with Maryland Alums, and this should feel like a home game for them. The Whips will be getting Zed Williams back from the NLL and I expect him to have a day, it's just too bad none of the sports books have a player prop for him. The Redwoods showed some signs of life last week, but it was against an 0-3 Chaos team without their biggest playmakers. The Whips also historically have a record of 5-2 against the Woods, and three of those wins were 1 goal games. I expect to see the WhipTerps to dominate as they back in Maryland and would be taking them at the -1.5 spread. I also will be looking for Matt Rambo to go for over 2.5 points.

Waterdogs vs Chaos

The Chaos will be taking on the Waterdogs for the second game on Friday evening and they will finally be at full force. They will be receiving Josh Byrne, Dhane Smith, Ian McKay, and Chase Frasier back from the NLL Playoffs, and honestly now would be the time to take the Chaos to win the 2022 season at +700. The Waterdogs will also have their stud of a goalie Dillion Ward coming back and that may give them some life. Kieran McArdle went off last week for the Dawgs with a 7 point outing in LI. I would look for Johns Hopkins alum Ryan Brown to follow his 6 point week with another strong outing. They are both set at over 2.5 points and I would take both of them on the over. That being said, I think the Chaos are receiving a bigger boost with the new players and will be taking them to win. Either way, both teams are 0-3 and someone will be walking away victorious.

Chrome vs Cannons

The #6 Cannons will be taking on the #1 Chrome to kick off Saturday. The Chrome are off to a hot start with their young attack squad and will look to continue the winning streak in week 4. Logan Wisnauskas, Brendan Nichtern, and Dylan Molloy all have 11 points in the first 3 weeks and their chemistry looks unstoppable. The Chrome also have the peoples goalie in net with Sean Sconone and he has been electric all season as the big boy is making saves and hitting quick outlets to help the Chrome establish a fast paced transition game. The Cannons like to play fast with a playmaker like Lyle Thompson and hopefully this will be a back and forth shootout. The Cannons have not held a team to under 10 goals this season and their totals through the first 3 weeks average to 26.3, so I Iove the over at 24.5. There are a couple of intriguing player props in this game with Thompson +4.5, Nolting +2.5, And both Wisnauskas and Nichtern at +3.5. I always think Lyle Thompson will go off and will be taking his over at +105 as well as Noltings over at +120. Like I said this should be a high scoring game, and hoping it will be a close one. My brain is telling me to go with the Chrome, but there is something inside of me telling me the Cannons will pull of an upset.

Atlas vs Archers

We have two high powered offenses going at it for the final game of week 4. The Atlas have scored 42 goals in the first week and the Archers have scored 47 and put up a whopping 20 in week 3. No wonder this games over is set at 25.5 and honestly I don't know what to think about it. All the signs are pointing to the over, but that is what makes the under so intriguing. If there is one thing I know about betting on the PLL, it is to expect the unexpected. The Atlas looked dominant in the first 2 weeks only to be put in their place by the Whips. The Archers have looked dominant the past 2 weeks, and to be honest, even the 2nd half of week. Both teams have goalies that are playing well, but the Atlas have a clear advantage at the x with Trevor Baptise who is looking like the best face-off man in the league as well as a legit offensive threat. I honestly can't pick a winner here and am just hoping for a close game that comes down to the last second. With offensive power like Jeff Teat, Chris Gray, Tom Schrieber, and Will Manny all playing in the same game you need to think there will be a lot of goals scored. I like Chris Gray and Tom Schrieber both at +3.5 points and I have since convinced myself to take the over at 25.5, cause who doesn't want to see a high scoring game. And if I needed to pick a winner, I would be going with the Atlas.

Overall

We learn something new about every team every week, and I expect Week 4 to be no different. Every game has the possibility to be a bar burner, and low key I hope each game is. Homewood field is a legendary stadium for lacrosse and I can not wait for a beautiful weekend of lacrosse. I just wish I had some Natty Bo out here on the West Coast to enjoy the games like I did last year :)
